For better or worse, Addison's always loved Darth Vader. Although she hasn't seen any of the movies yet, the mythology inevitably seeps into our lives. By the time she was two, she'd see a picture of Darth and exclaim "DARF!" and then walk around with a serious expression, breathing heavily. For a while she'd play with a toy bust of Darth Vader that spoke in his voice, and she'd proclaim, "Darf! Darf NICE!"
Well, here's our little Vader continuing to explore the complicated nature of her hero. 'Cause even Sith Lords appreciate a nice field of wildflowers. We'd heard about some poppy fields thirty minutes away, so we decided to go drive off our mountain and take a look. It was a seriously fun family trip, and great to watch the kiddo wandering blissfully among the flowers. Later in the day during a bout of rudeness she uttered her first "I Hate You!" and sat in one of her longest time-outs ever, followed by tearful apologies and hugs, which pretty much completed the day's theme with an ignominious fall and emotional redemption. Ah, the human condition.
