Probably a good idea we're spending the evening away from the chilluns.
Always trying to protect them, aren't you?
I LOVE the Fourth of July (and America), but I learned last night that it's Jack-Jack's nightmare holiday. He HATES fireworks and refused to leave our place after 6 pm.
Yeah, America's alright. And fireworks are pretty good, except after 10:00 pm. And there are always fireworks that late, because the only people who go to bed that early are us, our daughter, and octogenarians. I've sometimes wondered what fireworks are like for war vets...you know, the ones who have a hard time with balloons popping? Smoke, explosions, bright flashes. Seems a little mean on the day that we celebrate battles that got us our independence, and the people that helped us get it. "Sorry Bob, we're just celebrating our nations independence by re-enacting the bombs bursting in air in every city across the country. Thanks for your service! You might want some ear-plugs."
